I'm writing a memoir
As you may know, I’m writing a memoir about our son, who died five years ago at the age of five. It sounds like a sad story, but it really isn't: His life was filled with miracles — including an amazing medical evacuation from halfway around the world — and the years we spent together helped us understand what it really means to live, grow, and heal.
Many people have asked when it will be published, so I’m creating this list to share updates on its progress. Sign up here, and I’ll keep you in the loop.
In the meantime, you might like to read this essay I wrote about a road trip we took to help our family cope with his loss, published in The New York Times in December 2017, as well as this excerpt, adapted from the memoir-in-progress, published by the Forward in 2020.
It's my hope that many readers will find this book compelling -- not just parents and medical professionals, but anyone who is awed by the mysterious wonders of life. So please feel free to share this with any friends who might be interested— I’m very curious to discover who they are, and make that connection too.
